Infielder Kazuo Matsui went 1-for-4 on Monday in his first appearance with the Colorado Rockies' Triple-A team since being traded from the New York Mets.

Matsui, who was dealt by the Mets last Friday, doubled to deep left in his second at-bat in the Colorado Springs Sky Sox's 10-1 loss to the Las Vegas 51s while playing shortstop for the first time in two years.

"It was a completely different view from shortstop. I know I must get used to my old position," said Matsui, who needs to break out of a batting slump and play solid defense at either shortstop or second base in order to earn a spot in the Rockies lineup.

He has batted .200 with a homer and seven RBIs in 38 major league games this season.
