Takahiro Arai hit a game-tying RBI double in the eighth inning and Kenta Kurihara followed with a three-run homer, helping to lift the Hiroshima Carp to a 7-5 victory over the Chiba Lotte Marines on Sunday.
Arai drove home a run with no one out and runners at the corners, and Kurihara connected off right-handed reliever Justin Miller (0-1) on a first pitch fastball for a blast over the right-field wall at Hiroshima Stadium.
Miller, formerly of the Toronto Blue Jays, suffered his first loss since arriving in Japan last month, allowing the go-ahead run in his second appearance.
