Texas closer Akinori Otsuka threw a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his ninth save of the season. The right-hander allowed a single to Suzuki and a walk, but struck out two of the three batters he retired at Ameriquest Field.

Suzuki singled to center, walked, grounded out twice and singled to center off Otsuka for his third multihit effort in four games. Jojima singled to right, flied out to left, singled to left and grounded out to third.

"The two home runs (Gil Meche allowed in a six-run third inning) were not really good shots. The batters (Michael Young and Brad Wilkerson) took advantage of a tailwind," Jojima said, referring to his work behind the plate.

Chicago White Sox second baseman Tadahito Iguchi was 0-for-5 in a 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field.

Iguchi grounded out twice, flied out twice and popped out to catcher in foul territory.

Elsewhere, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder So Taguchi went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in a 6-3 loss to the Houston Astros.

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Takashi Saito pitched a scoreless ninth in a non-save situation in an 8-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
