Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-4 with two infield hits and Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Takashi Saito earned his second save in the major leagues on Saturday.

Suzuki reached on singles to first base and shortstop while striking out swinging twice against the Minnesota Twins for his first multihit performance in four games, raising his average to .316. The Mariners lost 9-5 for their third loss in a row.

Seattle catcher Kenji Jojima was 1-for-4 with a double to right-center, a pair of groundouts to shortstop and a double-play grounder to second at Metrodome.

At RFK Stadium, Saito preserved a two-run lead with a scoreless ninth to help the Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Washington Nationals.

The 36-year-old rookie allowed a leadoff double to Nick Johnson but retired the next three batters on a groundout and two strikeouts for the second save of his major-league career.

Elsewhere, Tadahito Iguchi singled twice in six at-bats in the Chicago White Sox's 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in 11 innings.

Iguchi singled to center and left, grounded out to the shortstop twice, struck out swinging twice at Rogers Centre, bringing his average back above .300 at .301.

Kazuo Matsui got his first hit in 17 plate appearances and went 1-for-4 as the New York Mets beat the Florida Marlins 7-4. He struck out swinging, popped out to second, grounded out to third, reached on an infield single to the shortstop and walked at Dolphin Stadium.

So Taguchi went 1-for-2 with a double as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the San Diego Padres 4-3. The outfielder had a sacrifice bunt, walked, grounded out to third and doubled to left.
