A day after having his stitches removed, New York Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui said Tuesday he has started on the road to recovery this season with some light exercises at home.

Matsui, who has had to endure boredom at home for more than 10 days after undergoing surgery on his fractured left wrist, received the green light from his doctor to begin light workouts, as long as he does not put any strain on his ailing wrist.

"The doctor told me that it's OK to exercise. But I can't put any weight on my left arm," Matsui told reporters. Until now, any movements that caused the arm to shake were not permitted, but his doctor is allowing him to train his lower body and torso.

Matsui is champing at the bit to get back to Yankee Stadium but since he is refraining from driving to the stadium, he said he will use his exercise bike at home before his doctor gives the okay to begin running workouts.
