Japan captain Tsuneyasu Miyamoto said Tuesday he was satisfied with preparations for the World Cup as the team's final training camp at home draws to a close.

"A lot of positives have come from being here together and we have developed a good strong bond," captain Miyamoto told reporters at the J-Village training facilities in Fukushima Prefecture.

"Everything is going smoothly. There has been good communication among the players off the pitch and I think we are all on the same wavelength," added the Gamba Osaka defender.

Japan crushed a local high school team 12-0 in what amounted to little more than target practice on Monday and the players on Tuesday were given the afternoon off for the first time in the weeklong camp to recuperate.

"We have had problems in practice matches before as a result of only being together for a short time but everything seemed to click in yesterday's match," said Miyamoto. "It bodes well for Germany."

Japan's weeklong camp wraps up on Wednesday with another warmup match against a youth team.

The Asian champion leaves on Friday for Germany, where it will take on the host nation and Malta in warmup matches ahead of its opening game against Australia in first-round Group F in Kaiserslautern on June 12.

Japan has also been grouped with Croatia and reigning world champion Brazil.
