The Oakland Athletics said Wednesday they have sold the contract of minor league outfielder Matt Watson to the Lotte Marines of Japan's Pacific League.
Watson has batted .317 with five homers and 28 RBIs in 32 games at Triple-A Sacramento this season. The 27-year-old appeared in 19 games with the Athletics last year, hitting .188 with no home runs and five RBIs.
Watson made his major league debut with the New York Mets in 2003 and is a .183 career hitter in 34 games in the majors.
