Japan coach Zico, who names his final 23-man squad for the World Cup finals on Monday, said Saturday he is not planning on taking any extra players to Germany as injury cover.

"I don't have any plans to select any standby players because in my mind the list of the final 23 players is finalized," Zico told reporters after the 0-0 draw with Scotland in the Kirin Cup.

"However, if players get injured or something and I have to change some of the members I have already selected then I might do that," he added.

Injured players can be replaced up to a day before teams' first matches at the World Cup, which kicks off June 9.

"I have to be very careful and fair to select the best players for each position. Right now I have two players for each position and I have told the players that I will only be selecting 23, no more, no less."
