Matsui walked, flied out to center, grounded out to second twice and singled to right in the ninth inning off right-hander Julio Santana, while scoring twice at Citizens Bank Park.
"I don't feel like I've been getting hits consistently," said Matsui, who had one hit each in his last six games and was 6-for-27 (.222) during the span.
