Texas Rangers closer Akinori Otsuka pitched a scoreless ninth inning in a 7-5 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Tuesday to pick up the save for the third straight game.
Otsuka, the seventh Rangers pitcher in the game at Tropicana Field, allowed a leadoff single to Damon Hollins but struck out Greg Norton and got Sean Burroughs to ground into a game-ending 4-6-3 double play.
The right-hander earned his third save in as many chances since taking over the closer's role from Francisco Cordero last April. He has gone 7-1/3 innings without giving up a run in eight consecutive outings.
