Veteran lefty Kimiyasu Kudo and four relievers combined on a three-hit shutout as the Central League-leading Yomiuri Giants beat the Hanshin Tigers 2-0 on Wednesday.

Kudo (3-0), who turns 43 on Friday, retired the first 10 batters he faced and held the Tigers to three hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and three walks at Koshien Stadium.

After Kudo worked himself out of a one-out bases-loaded jam in the sixth, Yuya Kubo, Masanori Hayashi and Satoshi Fukuda jointly worked the next two innings. Kiyoshi Toyoda then retired the side in order in the ninth for his seventh save.
