Orix Buffaloes infielder Kazuhiro Kiyohara was removed from the active roster Friday for the second time this month after suffering an injury to his left inner thigh muscle, officials of the Pacific League club said.

Kiyohara, who returned to action from a finger injury on Tuesday, hurt his leg while running to first base during a game against the Lotte Marines on Wednesday.

He will not go to a hospital but will practice apart from the team. The 38-year-old slugger said that he is experiencing pain in not only his leg but in his left wrist on the hand he was hit with a pitch on April 20.

Kiyohara has been hit by a pitch 196 times, an all-time Japanese baseball record, in a career that began with the Seibu Lions in 1986 and includes a stint also with the Yomiuri Giants from 1997-2005.

After being hit in the hand, Kiyohara made the outrageous comment that he would "bet his life" to tackle the next pitcher who hits him with a pitch but said he has calmed down since.
