Jeremy Powell pitched his third straight complete game and Tomohiro Nioka and Kenji Yano homered as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Hiroshima Carp 3-1 in the Central League on Tuesday.

Powell (4-0) won his fourth consecutive start, scattering seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks, while Nioka hit a solo shot in the first and Yano added a two-run drive in the second to provide run support for the right-hander at Hiroshima Stadium.

Powell came within two outs of recording his third straight shutout before giving up an RBI grounder to Kenta Kurihara after Takahiro Arai hit a one-out single and Tomonori Maeda followed with a double in the bottom of the ninth.
