Japan maintained its spotless record with a 50-14 victory over South Korea on Sunday to advance to the final qualifying round for the 2007 rugby World Cup.
Yuichi Hisadomi and Keiji Takei scored first-half tries as Japan took control with sparkling play for a 33-0 halftime lead at Prince Chichibu Memorial Ground in Tokyo.
Japan dragged its feet in the second half, allowing South Korea to score two tries, but Daisuke Ohata negated the effect with two tries of his own as Japan went on to book its ticket in the final round in November with a perfect 2-0 record after slamming the Arabian Gulf 82-9 last Sunday.
"This was a fruitful match for us. It will provide a springboard for the team as we look toward our match in November," said Ohata, who needs just two more tries to match David Campese's world record of 64 test match tries in international competition.
The winner of the final-round Asian qualifiers will automatically advance to next year's World Cup in France, while the runnerup will face a team from the Oceania region in a playoff.
