Seattle Mariners catcher Kenji Jojima stretched his hitting streak to five games while Ichiro Suzuki was held hitless in a 2-1 defeat to the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

Facing right-hander Curt Schilling for the first time in his major league career, Jojima singled to center on the first pitch leading off the third inning on a low and outside fastball.

Jojima, who went 1-for-3, struck out swinging in his two other at-bats against Schilling in the fifth and eighth at Fenway Park.
