Hideki Matsui went 1-for-3 with a bases-loaded walk and extended his hitting streak from opening day to seven games as the New York Yankees rallied to beat the Kansas City Royals 9-7 Tuesday to win its ninth straight home opener.

Matsui singled to right with none out in the eighth and scored on a base hit by Bernie Williams to trim Kansas City's lead to 7-6 before Derek Jeter capped a five-run rally in the inning with a three-run homer into the left-field seats at Yankee Stadium.
