Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Takashi Saito made an impressive relief appearance in his major league debut Sunday, while New York Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui stretched his hitting streak to six games.

Saito, called up from Triple-A Las Vegas last week to take the place of injured closer Eric Gagne, took the mound with one out and runners on first and second in the eighth inning and got Philadelphia Phillies infielder David Bell to hit into a double play.

Saito sprinted from the mound and fielded a trickler from Bell to start a 1-6-3 double play that kept the game tied at 3-3.
