The Oakland Athletics said Tuesday they have acquired Japanese right-hander Kazuhito Tadano from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor league outfielder Ramon Alvarado.
The 25-year-old Tadano will join Triple-A Sacramento in the Athletics organization after posting a 0-1 record with two saves and a 4.05 ERA in six preseason relief appearances and being designated for assignment by the Indians on Saturday.
Tadano spent most of the 2005 season at Buffalo and made just one mound appearance for the Indians last year. In his two-year career, he is 1-1 with a 4.47 ERA in 15 major league games, including four starts.
