Yokohama right fielder Kenji Sato hit a two-run single and scored three runs Friday, leading the Kanagawa powerhouse to a 13-3 rout of Tokyo's Waseda Jitsugyo to claim a semifinal berth in the national high school baseball invitational tournament.

Sato drove home two runners with a single to center in a four-run third inning off Waseda Jitsugyo ace Yuki Saito. Earlier in the day, Ryuichi Bito scattered eight hits and struck out nine in a complete-game shutout as Gifu Johoku beat Hyogo's Shinko Gakuen 4-0 in other quarterfinal action.
