New York Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui extended his preseason hitting streak to four games with a 1-for-4 outing against the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Matsui, who batted third and played left field, singled to right with a high bouncer off Braves starter Jorge Sosa in the third inning while flying out twice and striking out looking in his other at-bats.

"It's good that I got a base hit, but I still have a lot to work on in order to cope with tough pitches," said Matsui, who is 5-for-13 with a homer in his last four games.

The Mets overcame an early four-run deficit to win 5-4.

At Surprise, Ariz., Seattle Mariners rookie catcher Kenji Jojima went 1-for-2 with an RBI single to left and a walk in a 10-9 win over the Texas Rangers.

Texas right-hander Akinori Otsuka worked two-thirds of an inning in relief and struck out the two batters he faced in the fifth inning.

Elsewhere, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder So Taguchi came on as a pinch-runner and singled to center in his only at-bat in a 7-0 win over the Washington Nationals. Chicago White Sox second baseman Tadahito Iguchi was 0-for-4 against the Chicago Cubs in a game that ended in a 4-4 tie in 10 innings.
