Center fielder Toshiya Hasegawa went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Masaya Hasegawa pitched 7-1/3 strong innings Sunday as Tokaidai Sagami beat Kyoto Gaidai Nishi in the national high school baseball invitational tournament.

Toshiya Hasegawa broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run double in the sixth inning and added an RBI single in the eighth, helping the Kanagawa school advance to the second round by eliminating the runnerup in last summer's national high school championship.

Masaya Hasegawa held Kyoto Gaidai Nishi to five hits and two walks before Ryota Takayama got four outs to close out the first-round game at Koshien Stadium.

In the day's other action, Seiho from Nagasaki sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the sixth inning on its way to an 11-2 rout of Okayama Higashi Shogyo. Kazuma Ikeno hit a two-run homer and an RBI triple in going 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Seiho.

Nihon Bunri became the first Niigata Prefecture school to win a game in the annual tournament with a 4-3 victory over Takasaki Shogyo of Gunma. Toru Hasegawa hit a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh and Ryunosuke Yokoyama pitched four shutout innings in relief.
