Ichiro Suzuki and Tadahito Iguchi both went 0-for-3 as the Seattle Mariners beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 in a preseason game Friday.

Suzuki grounded out to shortstop once and flied out to left twice in his second exhibition game after returning from the World Baseball Classic, while Iguchi struck out once and flied out to center twice. Seattle catcher Kenji Jojima did not play.

"My upper body was tense in my first at-bat (strikeout). But I was able to relax a little bit later at the plate." Iguchi said. "In the preseason, I've paid more attention to the way I hit the ball than results."

In Jupiter, Fla., St. Louis Cardinals outfielder So Taguchi was 0-for-2 with two walks in a 12-2 loss to the New York Mets, grounding out to third and flying out to shortstop.

Elsewhere, Mets right-hander Yusaku Iriki pitched in a minor league exhibition game after his scheduled start against the Florida Marlins was rained out Thursday.

Iriki allowed one run and six hits to Double-A Springfield, an affiliate of the Cardinals, in two innings with one strikeout.
