Over the years, several people have been called "baseball ambassadors" for their efforts in fostering friendly relations between Japan and the United

States through the diamond game. Cappy Harada is one who comes to mind for his work of introducing American players to Japanese teams and "bridging the gap" between the two countries in the years following the end of World War II.

Others would include Peter O'Malley, former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his protege, the late Ike Ikuhara, and the late Kazuo "Pancho" Ito, ex-public relations for Japan's Pacific League and later a media personality.
