Left-hander Ken Kawasumi took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Takuya Takahama drove in the only run of the game as Yokohama shut out Riseisha 1-0 in the national high school baseball invitational tournament Friday.

Kawasumi held the Osaka school to two hits with four strikeouts and two walks and got run support in the sixth when Takahama broke a scoreless deadlock with an RBI single to right at Koshien Stadium.

In other first-round action, Ryuichi Bito hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and Shinnosuke Mizukawa followed with a game-winning single to right in the bottom of the ninth inning as Gifu Johoku rallied to beat Ichinoseki Gakuin of Iwate Prefecture 2-1.

Yaeyama Shoko from Okinawa also advanced to the second round with a 5-2 victory over Toyama's Takaoka Shogyo. Yuta Omine struck out 17 Takaoka batters and Nagayasu Kinjo homered in the first inning to lead the attack for Yaeyama.
