Japanese right-hander Keiichi Yabu has been assigned to minor league camp by the Colorado Rockies after failing to impress in spring training.

The Rockies made the announcement Tuesday after Yabu allowed 11 runs in eight innings in five preseason appearances as a non-roster invitee. He signed a minor-league deal with Colorado after going 4-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 40 games with the Oakland Athletics in his rookie season in the majors last year.

In a preseason exhibition game Tuesday, Chicago White Sox second baseman Tadahito Iguchi batted fifth and went 0-for-2 with a walk in a 10-7 loss to the San Diego Padres.
