Jojima hit an RBI single to left in the first inning while showing solid defense as a battery mate for probable opening-day starter Jamie Moyer, who was charged with three runs and five hits in four-plus innings.

"I believe I was able to make adjustments (in pitch selection) during the game," Jojima said after the game, in which Moyer pitched three scoreless innings after giving up two runs in the first.

At Tampa, Florida, Hideki Matsui batted sixth in the lineup and grounded out three times in three at-bats as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 2-0.

Elsewhere, Hideo Nomo, who signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox in the off-season, is scheduled to pitch in Monday's major league spring training game against the Kansas City Royals, according to pitching coach Don Cooper.

The right-hander threw two scoreless innings in a minor league exhibition game Friday.
