The Oakland Athletics said Monday they have reassigned Japanese right-hander Makoto "Mac" Suzuki to their minor league camp.
The 30-year-old non-roster spring training invitee gave up a total of six runs in his last two shaky outings after being released by the Orix Buffaloes last September and signing a minor league contract with the Athletics.
Suzuki made his debut in the majors in 1996 and went 16-31 with a 5.72 ERA in a six-year major league career that included stints with the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers.
He joined Orix of Japan's Pacific League in 2003 and posted a 5-15 record with a 7.53 ERA in two seasons. He made no top-team appearances last year and was released on Sept. 30.
