Hideki Matsui went 1-for-3 with a single Sunday for his first hit in four spring exhibition games in the New York Yankees' 7-5 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

Matsui, who batted cleanup and played left field, singled up the middle off left-hander CC Sabathia in the second inning for his first hit since going 2-for-3 against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.

Matsui grounded out to second and third in his other at-bats.

At Maryvale, Ariz., Tomokazu Ohka was roughed up for seven runs and eight hits, including a two-run homer and a three-run homer, in three innings as the Milwaukee Brewers fell 11-5 to the Chicago Cubs.

Elsewhere, Tadahito Iguchi singled to left on a 1-for-3 afternoon in the Chicago White Sox's 6-1 loss to a Los Angeles Angels split squad at Tucson, Arizona. New York Mets infielder Kazuo Matsui was hitless in three at-bats in a 3-2 defeat to the Baltimore Orioles in 10 innings at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

So Taguchi was 0-for-4 in St. Louis Cardinals' 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Mac Suzuki, who has signed a minor-league contract with the Oakland Athletics, took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits in one inning in a 5-4 defeat by a Los Angeles Angels split squad.
