Chicago White Sox infielder Tadahito Iguchi got his first hit of the spring Friday when he hit an RBI double off the right-center wall in going 1-for-3 in an 11-6 loss to the San Francisco Giants in an exhibition game.

Iguchi, who had been hitless in 17 plate appearances in his previous six games, batted sixth in the lineup and hit into a double-play to first and flied out to center in his other at-bats.

"I just tried to hit to the right side of the field," Iguchi said of his double. "I'm relieved that I finally got a base hit and I felt anew that I should stick with my usual batting mechanics without tinkering with it."

At Port St. Lucie, Fla., So Taguchi went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles to right and a walk while scoring three runs on a day when he signed a new one-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.

St. Louis beat the New York Mets 11-3. Mets infielder Kazuo Matsui went 0-for-3 and committed a throwing error before leaving the game after five innings.

Elsewhere, Seattle Mariners catcher Kenji Jojima made a pinch-hit appearance and grounded out to shortstop in an 8-7 win over the Colorado Rockies.
