Japanese right-hander Yusaku Iriki pitched three effective innings for his first preseason win Wednesday as the New York Mets beat the Cleveland Indians 7-1.

Iriki allowed an RBI double to Jhonny Peralta in the third, but held Cleveland to one run, one hit and three walks in his second start this spring.

Iriki was unsatisfied with his outing. "I couldn't control my pitches and make adjustments. I also let my guard down (after a 7-0 lead)," he said. Mets second baseman Kazuo Matsui did not play.

At Tampa, Hideki Matsui was 0-for-3 in the New York Yankees' 8-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, ending his four-game hitting streak.

Matsui, batting fourth in the lineup, flied out to center, grounded out to second and lined out to first.

"It's just a matter of contact point," Matsui said of the reason he could not get a hit.

Elsewhere, Seattle Mariners catcher Kenji Jojima went 0-for-3 in the Seattle Mariners' 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants, while Chicago White Sox second baseman Tadahito Iguchi was 0-for-2 with a walk in a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, going hitless for 16 plate appearances this spring.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder So Taguchi was 1-for-4 in a 7-4 win over the Washington Nationals.
