Matsui lined a double down the right-field line with one out and a runner on first in the first inning, and played left field for the first time this spring.

"I fielded a few fly balls during the game, and my leg was fine," said Matsui, who took the designated hitter role in the previous two games because of a swollen left knee.

"As for batting, most pitchers are not really ready at this point, so not only me, but also other players are hitting well," Matsui said of his 5-for-6 performance in three games.
