Japan will complete its preparations for this summer's World Cup finals with a friendly against Malta in Dusseldorf, the Japan Football Association said Monday.
The Asian champion's final tuneup against 119th-ranked Malta will be held June 4, eight days before it meets Guus Hiddink's Australia in its opening Group F clash in Kaiserslautern.
Japan, which will be making their third straight appearance at the finals, will also play World Cup host Germany in a friendly in Leverkusen on May 30.
Holders Brazil and Croatia are Japan's other first-round opponents in the finals, which kick off in Munich on June 9.
