Japanese table tennis star Ai Fukuhara crashed out of the Asian Cup with a 4-2 loss to world No. 5 Li Jia Wei of Singapore on Saturday.
Fukuhara advanced past the group stage with a 2-1 record to set up a meeting with Li, who came back from a game down to eliminate the world's No. 19 player 7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 12-10, 5-11, 11-4 at Kobe City Central Gymnasium.
In other women's quarterfinal action, China's Wang Nan trounced Ai Fujinuma of Japan 4-0 and Lin Ling of Hong Kong edged South Korean Park Mi Young 4-3. China's Li Nan downed Tie Yana of Hong Kong 4-3.
Japan's An Konishi was knocked out in the group stage.
In the men's singles, Japanese national champion Kaii Yoshida booked his place in the semifinals along with China's Wang Hao and Chen Qi and Taiwan's Chiang Peng-lung.
