Hidemasa Sano set a national record for the second time in as many days Sunday when he won the men's 200-meter individual medley at the national short-course swimming championships.
Sano touched the wall in 1 minute, 56.05 seconds at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center, a day after winning the 400-meter individual medley in a new short-course mark of 4:05.46.
Freestyle swimmer Daisuke Hosokawa completed a double with a 100-meter victory in a national-record 48.60, following the 200-meter title he took Saturday with a record time of 1:45.48.
In other races, Athens Olympic 800-meter freestyle champion Ai Shibata finished runnerup to Romania's Camelia Potec in the women's 400-meter freestyle. Shibata clocked 4:06.01 to trail Potec by 0.02.
Mai Nakamura set a national record of 58.14 in the women's 100-meter backstroke.
