Tuffy Rhodes may have played his last game in Japan.
Rhodes signed a minor-league deal with the Cincinnati Reds, his hometown team, according to reports in the Cincinnati Post and on the Reds' official Web site.
Rhodes, 37, was signed along with 35-year-old Quinton McCracken, giving the Reds outfield depth, even if it is a bit seasoned.
Fellow 35-year-old Ken Griffey Jr. will start in center field for the Reds, while young stars Wily Mo Pena and Auntin Kearns have the starting positions in left and right field, respectively.
A 10-year veteran in Nippon Professional Baseball, Rhodes left Japan on a sour note after a disappointing 2005 campaign with the Yomiuri Giants.
Rhodes played eight of his 10 seasons with the Kintetsu Buffaloes, signing with Yomiuri before the 2004 campaign.
Rhodes leaves Japan with a career average of .285, having hit 360 home runs, including 55 in 2001.
