Japanese right-hander Tomokazu Ohka reached a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, one day shy of a scheduled arbitration hearing, the National League club announced.

Brewers Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Melvin made the announcement.

The club did not release the financial terms of the contract but U.S. media said the deal calls for a $4.53 million (about 530 million yen) base salary plus incentives.

Ohka sought $5.2 million against $4.25 million offered by the Brewers. He made $2.75 million in 2005.

Ohka went 11-9 with a 4.04 ERA in a total of 29 starts and three relief appearances for the Washington Nationals and the Brewers last year.
