When Joji Kato set a new world record in the men's 500 meters in Salt Lake City last November, he immediately predicted he would record an even faster time in the not-too-distant future.
Japanese speed skating officials will be hoping the jet-heeled Kato picks his moment to do just that at the Turin Winter Games and provide Japan with its first gold medal on the ice track since the country hosted the Nagano Olympics eight years ago.
