Japanese international Koji Nakata said Tuesday he is confident that he will become a solid part of FC Basel and help his new club lift trophies.

"I chose this club because I'm confident I can get my job done here," Nakata said as he was introduced by Basel after completing the signing of a contract that runs through the end of June 2008.

"I was impressed with the quality of the training sessions and the skills of individual players, making me feel that I'll be able to grow into a better player here with this team," Nakata said.

Nakata joined Basel following an unhappy spell at French club Marseille. He had been hoping for a transfer to get more playing time in the runup to the World Cup finals.
