The Yokohama BayStars on Tuesday announced the acquisition of former Yakult Swallows right-hander Jason Beverlin on a one-year, $300,000 contract.

Beverlin won a total of 17 games in 2003-04 for the Swallows against 15 losses.

The 32-year-old left the Central League team after being sidelined with a right elbow injury he sustained in a game in August 2004.

Beverlin has pitched seven games in the major leagues with the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers, all in 2002, and has an 0-3 record with an 8.69 ERA.
