Japanese freestyle skier Aiko Uemura said Monday the injury to her left knee was not serious as feared and played down concerns about her performance at next month's Winter Olympic Games in Turin.
Uemura was diagnosed with an inflamed knee that needs about a week to heal at a medical institution in Tokyo, a day after returning to Japan from the United States to receive detailed examinations.
"There's no problem with the ligaments or bone. The inflammation has not stopped but you don't have to worry about it very much because it's not a serious injury," Uemura told reporters.
