Hanshin Tigers left-hander Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi signed a new two-year contract worth an estimated 350 million yen plus performance-based incentives on Thursday.

The 37-year-old was awarded the multiyear contract after helping Hanshin win its second Central League title in three years with a league-leading 15 wins against three losses with a 2.99 ERA in 24 starts.

In Nagoya, the Chunichi Dragons and outfielder Kosuke Fukudome failed to reach an agreement on a new salary deal in their second round of talks.
