The Chiba Lotte Marines said Thursday they have acquired right-hander Kevin Beirne on a one-year, 100 million yen contract.
Beirne, 31, went 4-13 with a 4.69 ERA in 22 games for the Orix Buffaloes last year.
He joined the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 2003 from the Los Angeles Dodgers and has an 18-28 record with a 4.25 ERA in his three-year career in Japan.
