Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Tomokazu Ohka filed for salary arbitration before the Friday midnight deadline.
Ohka and the Brewers will submit their proposed salaries shortly, with major league arbitration hearings starting Feb. 1.
Players and their teams often reach a settlement before arbitration proceedings begin.
Ohka was 11-9 with a 4.04 ERA in a total of 32 games for the Washington Nation als and the Brewers last year, when he made $2.75 million in annual salary.
