Lotte Marines submarine right-hander Shunsuke Watanabe re-signed Friday with the Japan Series champions for an estimated 140 million yen plus performance-based incentives of up to 10 million yen.
The annual salary more than doubled from this year's 61 million yen after Watanabe posted a team-high 15 wins against four losses with a 2.17 ERA, the second best in the Pacific League, and continued to pitch strongly in the postseason.
Outfielder Saburo Omura also re-signed with the Marines, gaining a 43 million yen pay increase from this year to 85 million yen.
Omura, who was moved to the cleanup spot in the lineup after the All-Star break, finished the regular season with a .313 average with 14 homers and 50 RBIs in 107 games.
