Yosuke Kaneoya kicked a 45-yard field goal to break a 16-all tie with 1:45 to go as the Obic Seagulls overcame a 16-0 halftime deficit to beat the Matsushita Denko Impulse 25-19 Monday in the Japan X Bowl, the X League championship game.
Obic clinched its first X League title since 2002 and fourth overall.
Obic takes on collegiate champion Hosei University for the overall national championship in the Rice Bowl at Tokyo Dome on Jan. 3.
Before 13,564 football fans at Tokyo Dome, both teams showed what took them to the championship game -- Matsushita's defense and Obic's offense.
Obic defensive end Kevin Jackson, who blocked two punts, was named the game's MVP.
