Tokyo Verdy will offer former Japan international midfielder Ruy Ramos the manager's job of the club relegated to the J. League second division, club officials said Thursday.
Verdy is expected to soon begin contract talks with Ramos, who played for the club in 1992-96 and 1997-98 when it was known as Verdy Kawasaki and is currently a Kashiwa Reysol assistant coach. Verdy finished 17th this past season in the 18-team J. League first division and was relegated to the second division for the first time in club history.
Reysol also lost its top-flight status after its defeat by Ventforet Kofu in the promotion/relegation playoff. Ramos, who obtained Japanese citizenship in 1989, has been capped 32 times for Japan.
