Many Brazilians believe the match with Japan in the first round of next year's World Cup finals in Germany may be a barrier on their country's journey to try to win the competition for a record sixth time.

Shortly after soccer's governing body FIFA drew Japan, Croatia and Australia in Group F, the Brazilian media hurried to produce analyses on the hardships the five-time world champion may face in the group stage.

Most analysts believe Croatia will be the most dangerous team Brazil will face in the group, but there is clear preoccupation that Japan may spring an unpleasant surprise when both sides meet in Dortmund on June 22 in their third and last first-round match.

"I think (the three teams) are strong opponents, but Japan are the one which may surprise us," said Lyon striker Fred, who scored two goals in Brazil's 8-0 demolition of the United Arab Emirates recently.
