The Yomiuri Giants said Monday right-hander Brian Sikorski will leave the Central League team after the reliever was left out of new manager Tatsunori Hara's plans for the next season.
Sikorski, who set a club record by pitching in 70 games and posted a 7-1 record with a 3.29 ERA this year, hopes to continue playing in Japan, baseball sources said.
He joined the Giants in 2004 after pitching three years with the Chiba Lotte Marines.
Sikorski is 21-20 with eight saves and a 3.51 ERA in 238 games in Japan.
Yomiuri also announced the release of Scott Mullen and J.B. Miadich. Mullen went 6-8 with a 6.22 ERA in 22 games while Miadich had a 7.17 ERA with no-decisions in 15 games.
