Japan LPGA star Ai Miyazato will compete on the Japanese men's tour at the Asia Japan Okinawa Open in December, tournament organizers said Monday.
Miyazato, 20, who will become the first Japanese woman to play on the JGTO tour at the Dec. 15-18 event at Naha Golf Club, said she was surprised at the invitation.
"To be honest I was taken aback when I was asked to play and find it a bit puzzling," said Miyazato.
Miyazato's elder brother Kiyoshi Miyazato is Asia Japan Okinawa Open defending champion.
