Yuta Tabuse, who became the first Japanese NBA player last year with the Phoenix Suns, will join the Toronto Raptors' training camp, the Toronto Star reported Tuesday.

Tabuse is expected to vie for the role of third-string point guard for the Raptors with other invitees to the camp, which will begin Oct. 4 in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Tabuse made his debut with the Suns in their season opener last Nov. 3 and played in three more NBA games, but was given limited playing time and released Dec. 18.
